Inspiration

I built a web-application to periodically automatically check iTunes / Spotify for any new Frank Ocean music. The service got picked up by Reddit and then went viral gaining press in Washington Post, Billboard, TIME, and on the Twilio blog among many others.

Impact

  • Over 20,000 signed up users in a weekend
  • Over 60,000 text messages sent
  • Users from over 50 different countries

What I learnt

  • How to scale an application while keeping zero downtime
  • Managing press (I even give an interview to a New Zealand radio show)
